Tyler Loftus, M.D.

As a clinician and data scientist, Tyler Loftus, M.D., an assistant professor in the department of surgery, conducts research that uses artificial intelligence to help clinicians make better-informed decisions regarding patients undergoing surgery. Loftus is the winner of the 2024 UF College of Medicine Rising Star Researcher Award in Clinical, Data or Artificial Intelligence Sciences.

Two faculty named fellows of American Association for the Advancement of Sciences

The world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of the Science family of journals has elected 12 UF faculty to its newest class, including Jonathan Licht, M.D., and Linda Cottler, Ph.D., M.P.H., FACE. Licht, the director of the UF Health Cancer Center, the Marshall E. Rinker Sr. Chair and a professor in the College of Medicine, is recognized for his contributions to cancer epigenetics. Cottler, a dean’s professor of epidemiology at the College of Public Health and Health Professions and College of Medicine, is recognized for her research on addiction and substance abuse.
